Producers - John Fawcett

Farmer John Fawcett is not just found tending his livestock and land. He also has a key role in the deer management programme at nearby Duncombe Park at Helmsley. Deer can cause extensive damage to crops, trees and fencing, and as they have no natural predators need to be culled to keep their numbers in check. Deer culled at Duncombe Park often finds its way to local restaurant and pub kitchens where venison has become a popular dish on menus for its unique flavour. Its leanness has also made it a healthier alternative to other red meat.
