Producers - Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil is the equal of olive oil and increasingly the choice of discerning chefs and for home cooks. Just as olive oil reflects the terroir within which it is grown, so too do the oils produced in Thixendale from a crop grown on the chalk soils of the Yorkshire Wolds. Importantly, all of the oil produced by Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil is cold pressed from seed grown on North Breckenholme and neighbouring farms. The unique nature of the oil is reflected in its rich golden-yellow colour and gentle nutty flavour. With only half the saturated fat and 11 times the omega of olive oil, a high burn point and a gentle nutty flavour; rapeseed oil is ideal for all culinary needs
While widely known for its natural oils, Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil is also increasingly known for its range of dressings and mayonnaises, produced with as many ingredients sourced in Yorkshire as possible. Now, the expanding range has been joined by a cookery book that shows the true versatility of Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil.
Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil is run by husband and wife team, Adam and Jennie Palmer, Adam looks after the farm too and is as at home with his sheep as he is on a farmers’ market. Jennie and her mother have taken the lead in developing the recipes for the growing range of dressings and mayonnaises. Other family members are crucial to what is genuinely a family business. Adam’s father Ben spends half his life working with Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil and the other travelling the oceans as the captain of a gas tanker. But, even then, whenever his ship docks at Milford Haven, fresh supplies of Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil’s products are waiting to go on-board.
