Hepworth sits within the landscape made famous by the hit BBC comedy Last of the Summer Wine, near to the market town of Holmfrth, again known for the Last of the Summer Wine. Moorland scenery, sheep and fast flowing rivers abound as do towns that developed through the industrial revolution to be powerhouses in the textile industry. Now, althogh the textile industry is no longer dominant there are still vibrant towns with splendid 19th century architecture and a growing cultural tradition. Indeed, Huddersfield was once dubbed "Athens of the North" by The Guardian.
If exploring our urban heritage is not your scene escape to the roof of England and explore the Pennines by car, cycle or on foot. The Peak District National Park is close by and a magnet for many who are eager to discover unspoilt landscapes of upland Britain.
