This irecently restored gem of a hotel is an ideal base in Malton, christened the food capital of Yorkshire by Antonio Carluccio. The 28 guest rooms ae all finished to a high standard as is the rest of the hotel. The hotel's Wentworth Restaurant is overseen by head chef Dan Graham who also looks after the hotel's brasserie for less formal dining. Talbot Yard, an artisan food hub and Malton Cookery school are less than a five minute walk away.

The Area

The self styled food capital of Yorkshire has a lot going for it. It hasone of the best food festivals in Britain, a monthly farmers market and some great finds for the food lover in the many independent retailers central to the success of this thriving market time.

Malton is a great place to stay if you are wanting to explore the Yorkshire wolds, the North York Moors National Park and the coast beyond. Both York and Scarborough are within easy reach by train as is Whitby via the heritage railway that begins in nearby Pickering.

Castle Howard, where Brideshead Revisited was filmed is easily accessed and well worth a visit, as is the associated Yorkshire Arboretum.
