The self styled food capital of Yorkshire has a lot going for it. It hasone of the best food festivals in Britain, a monthly farmers market and some great finds for the food lover in the many independent retailers central to the success of this thriving market time.
Malton is a great place to stay if you are wanting to explore the Yorkshire wolds, the North York Moors National Park and the coast beyond. Both York and Scarborough are within easy reach by train as is Whitby via the heritage railway that begins in nearby Pickering.
Castle Howard, where Brideshead Revisited was filmed is easily accessed and well worth a visit, as is the associated Yorkshire Arboretum.
